Rotor Sprinkler Not Rotating / Rotating Too Slow
You turn your sprinkler system on, but a rotor on the system is not rotating. There appears to be less water coming out of the sprinkler than usual___________________________________________________________________________________________
Dirt / Debris clogging the filter and gear drive: Rotary sprinklers operate on a "gear drive" system. When in operation, water turns a small turbine in the base of the sprinkler, which drives a series of gears that cause the head to rotate. The gear drive mechanism is sealed from dirt and debris. Age, excessive pressure, or poor water quality may eventually allow particles of contamination to enter the gear drive.
Solution: If the sprinkler is no longer rotating and the water flow coming out of the sprinkler has decreased, you can first try cleaning out the filter by removing the pop-up assembly from the main body. The cap can simply be threaded off and the internal assembly removed. The filter on the bottom of the internal assembly can be easily removed using needle nose pliers. Generally, if cleaning the filter does not solve non-rotation, then the internal sprinkler assembly must be replaced. If this is the case, we should have the rotor sprinkler that you need.
Broken Piping Sometimes when new additions are added to your yard such as new trees, fences or cement, pipe can get broken.
• Fix the broken pipe.
• Make sure that the pressure loss is not from your Valve, find how to fix your valves here
Reduced Water Pressure: Is there any new construction in the area since the sprinkler system was installed? More development in your neighborhood could be causing less water to be available to your sprinkler than when it was first installed.
• Perform a flow test to see what the water supply is currently capable of and modify the system accordingly.
• Reduce the number of heads per zone.
• Replace the existing nozzles with smaller nozzles.___________________________________________________________________________________________
