Fittings Chart
PVC fitting manufacturers have developed a useful uniform numbering system to classify fittings by material, inlet types, and inlet sizes. The graphic below illustrates how this system works.
-
• A prefix of "1" indicates that the fitting is a barbed poly pipe fitting.
-
• If the first number is "4" then the fitting is Sch. 40. Example: 429-010 (typically a white colored fitting)
-
• If the first number is "8" then the fitting is Sch. 80. Example: 829-010 (typically a grey colored fitting)
-
• The first three numbers indicate the type of fitting and inlet types: For Example Slip Tee (401), FIPT Elbow (408), MIPT x Slip Male Adapter (436), etc. Find out more about inlet types like FIPT, MIPT, Spigot, and Slip in our Irrigation Glossary.
-
• The second set of numbers, after the dash, indicate the size. For example a 401-010 is a 1" tee, 406-005 is a 1/2" elbow, 407-101 is a 3/4" x 1/2" slip x thread elbow.
